UPDATE!! Steven Tyler Whitehead was indicted on 1 count of murder and 3 counts of attempted murder!! 


And his attorney has withdrawn from the case!


BACKSTORY:

Jefferson County, Ala. — On October 19, a night of fun quickly turned deadly at a location known as “The Pit,” where dozens of teens were having a bonfire gathering. 

A man not known to the group, 27-year-old Steven Whitehead, reportedly showed up and approached one of the girls, causing a confrontation. As he attempted to walk away from the situation, he was jumped and attacked by two men who were friends with the girl- Silas McCay and Hunter McCulloch. 

While on the ground getting repeatedly punched, he pulled out a gun and began firing, shooting four different people. One of them was 18-year-old Kimber Mills, who had no involvement in the fight. She was shot in her leg and her head. She could be seen trying to help break up the fight.

Two days later, she succumbed to her injuries but was briefly kept on life support in order to donate her organs and help others.

Deputies arrested Whitehead and charged him with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder.



Silas McCay and Hunter McCulloch were also arrested. They each were charged with third-degree assault.
