A Russian dad took the law into his own hands when he made the man who abused his 6-year-old daughter dig his own grave in the woods before convincing him to take his own life.
Vyacheslav Matrosov, 35, went above the law after finding video footage of his young daughter being forced into sexual acts and confronted Oleg Sviridov, 32, the man shown in the recording. In a disturbing audio clip, the child's desperate voice can be heard: "Oleg, that's enough, I can't take it anymore. I want to go home."
At first, Matrosov was hit with murder charges, but an additional investigation showed that Sviridov's injuries were caused by himself. In 2022, Matrosov was handed an 18-month jail sentence, serving 12 months before being freed.

Public opinion in Russia supported Matrosov when it emerged that he had made his daughter's attacker dig his own grave in the forest. After getting out of prison, Matrosov shared a photo on social media with the words: "Home. Love very much."
A Russian man sought vigilante justice
The Krasnoglinsky Court in Samara convicted Matrosov of "encouraging" Sviridov to commit suicide, leading to an 18-month term in a harsh regime prison colony. If Matrosov had been found guilty of murder, the former rocket engine plant employee could have been looking at up to 15 years behind bars
The local neighborhood in the Samara region supported Matrosov after he was connected to the death of convicted child molester Sviridov, bringing worldwide focus to the case. Locals in Pribrezhnoye generously contributed funds to pay for Matrosov's initial legal costs.
He took his friend to the woods and gave him a choice
A petition gathering 2,500 signatures surfaced, calling for Matrosov's acquittal, with residents showing appreciation for "saving our children by ridding us of a child sex attacker."
Well-known TV figure and former Russian presidential hopeful Ksenia Sobchak openly declared: "All parents are standing up for the pedophile's killer."
