A 15-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with assault following a vicious attack on an 11-year-old girl
A 15-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with assault following a vicious attack on an 11-year-old girl and her puppy in the Bronx’s Allerton neighborhood, an incident that has sparked community outrage and calls for further arrests.
According to police reports, the young victim was walking her 4-month-old puppy, Leo, when she was chased for five blocks by a group of three teenage girls.
The attackers punched her in the face, kicked her multiple times in the head, and struck her with a rock, causing her to fall to the ground. One assailant then kicked Leo, sending the small dog flying several feet through the air before it landed and hid under a parked car. The puppy sustained internal injuries and required hospitalization, though it has since recovered.
The victim’s mother, Neliana Garcia, described the harrowing aftermath in interviews. “Her face was completely in blood. Swelling. I can’t even recognize her,” Garcia said. The 11-year-old, who suffers from epilepsy, has experienced daily seizures since the attack, along with depression, loss of appetite, and constant crying.
The attack was interrupted by good Samaritans—a man and woman driving by—who stopped their car and intervened to protect the girl. Witnesses reported that around two dozen boys and girls watched the assault unfold without stepping in.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams condemned the attack on social media, calling it “absolutely horrifying” and stating that “no child should ever endure such a brutal and senseless attack.”
The family is pushing for additional charges, including animal cruelty, and more arrests, as police have identified three suspects in the video but only one has been apprehended so far.
