Angela Hansen has endured a level of heartbreak that few people could ever imagine. On July 4, 2023, her husband, Kyley, drowned during a family pool party, leaving Angela to raise their children without him.

Now, she is facing another devastating loss. On Friday, while Angela was cleaning out the family van at a car wash, her 22-month-old daughter, Ada, was struck and killed by a truck.

According to Angela’s sister, Lauren Paskett, who spoke with KSL, Angela had parked near the car wash playground, where Ada and her 4-year-old sister were playing. At some point, Ada called out for her mother, and her older sister took her hand and began walking her back toward Angela.

Then, in a tragic accident, a nearby truck began moving forward and struck Ada.

The loss has devastated the entire family, and Ada’s 4-year-old sister is also struggling after witnessing what happened. For Angela, the pain is even deeper because Ada was her youngest child and, as her family described it, felt like the last remaining piece of the husband she had already lost.

Now Angela is preparing to bury her little girl beside her father, Kyley.

“Everyone is completely heartbroken. They are devastated. It’s a terrible accident,” Lauren said.

Despite the unimaginable circumstances, the family has also expressed compassion toward the 18-year-old driver. Lauren said she feels deeply sorry for him and recognizes that he will have to live with what happened for the rest of his life.

“We need to support both sides,” she said. “We want peace for everyone, and we forgive him.”

For Angela and her family, the tragedy has left another permanent absence in a family that was already trying to heal from an earlier loss.
