A father and his adult daughter were arrested on felony incest charges after DNA testing allegedly confirmed that the man fathered his daughter's young child.

According to reports from the Erwin Police Department and court records, 40-year-old Julius Grant Jackson and his 20-year-old daughter, Mackenzie Elizabeth Hicks were taken into custody on December 18th following an investigation that began more than a year earlier.

The case reportedly began on May 9, 2024, when Hicks, then 18, contacted police to report that her father had allegedly sexually assaulted her multiple times since she was around 13 years old. Authorities say she initially hesitated to pursue charges, expressing concern about the potential consequences for her father.


Several months later, on September 18, 2024, Hicks' biological mother, Danielle Hicks, reportedly contacted detectives to inform them that her daughter was pregnant, alleging the pregnancy resulted from molestation by Jackson. The following day, a family friend told investigators that Jackson was the biological father of the then-6-month-old infant boy.


A search warrant was executed on September 25, 2024, for DNA samples, and testing by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation later confirmed the paternity, leading to the arrests.

During the arrest attempt at their residence, Jackson allegedly fled in a truck with Hicks, resulting in a brief police chase. Officers reportedly recovered multiple loaded high-power firearms from the vehicle. Jackson faces additional charges including felony fleeing to elude arrest, hit and run, resisting a public officer, possessing a fictitious driver's license, and traffic violations. Both individuals were charged with felony incest and felony crime against nature.

I know many of you are asking the same question I’m asking. Why was the child (now adult) arrested? I’m not quite sure. I’ve searched everywhere for more information with no success.
