Boxer Muhammad Ali gets distracted by Puerto Rican dancer, singer, and entertainer, Iris Chacón in an exhibition match against local boxer Cholito, Puerto Rico, 1976.

In 1976, Muhammad Ali traveled to Puerto Rico for an exhibition match that has since become part of boxing folklore. The bout wasn’t about titles or rankings but rather entertainment, and Ali’s opponent was a local heavyweight known as “Cholito.”

During the match, the crowd witnessed a humorous moment when a woman named Iris climbed into the ring, catching Ali’s attention.

Ever the showman, Ali momentarily shifted his focus from his opponent to the unexpected distraction, drawing laughter and excitement from the audience. This image captures the lighter side of Ali, who was as famous for his charisma and humor as for his dominance in the ring.

Exhibition fights like this one were common throughout Ali’s career, allowing fans around the world to experience his presence firsthand. Though not a serious contest, the Puerto Rico exhibition highlighted Ali’s global appeal and his ability to turn any event into unforgettable theater.
