"I know you've been stealing from me," the boss said. "I saw you frequent the locker room at least thrice during your shift. Come here, give me your bag. Let me see what's inside."
Giselle was frightened. She wanted to step back and run.
"It's nothing, sir. I just have my lunch box and a set of spare clothes in it."
But Thomas hurried to her and snatched the bag from her hand. It was heavier than he thought.
Some curious guests and staff flocked around Giselle and Thomas as he put the bag on a table and took out a little blanket from it. "Oh my God! What is this?!" he exclaimed đđđ

A Change of Heart: The Story of Thomas and Giselle
Thomas, a wealthy widower in his early 50s, prided himself on being intelligent and charismatic. However, he despised those who mocked him behind his back, calling him âbaldâ or âpotbellied.â
He had a habit of charming young women whenever he got the chance. Though not a full-time flirt, he never missed an opportunity to impress a beautiful lady. Among them was 20-year-old Giselle.
Giselle had recently lost her husband, Mason, the love of her life, and was struggling to survive. Desperate for work, she noticed a âWe Are Hiringâ sign outside Thomasâs eatery and applied for a dishwasher position. She was hired immediately and worked tirelessly to keep her job.
Her coworkers warned her about their bossâs behavior toward female staff, but Giselle paid no attentionâshe was focused on providing for herself.
One evening, as Giselle finished her shift and prepared to leave, Thomas blocked her path, holding a red rose.
âDo you know why I hired you, Miss Giselle?â he asked with a smirk.
âNo, sir. Please excuse me, I need to get home,â she replied, trying to step past him.
âDonât call me âsir.â Call me Tom,â he insisted, inching closer.
Giselle felt trapped, realizing she was the last to leave that night.
âWe could go to a resort, have drinks, and shop for whatever you like,â Thomas suggested.
Giselle stiffened. âIâm here to work, sir. Nothing more. I respect my job and my workplace. Thank you, but Iâm not interested.â
Thomasâs ego was bruised. He couldnât believe a mere dishwasher had rejected him. âHow dare she turn me down?â he fumed. Determined to get back at her, he began plotting his revenge.
A Sinister Plan
Days passed, but Thomas couldnât shake off the sting of Giselleâs rejection. He observed her closely, waiting for an opportunity to humiliate her.
One day, he noticed her carrying a large bag to work. His suspicions grew as he saw her bring it daily. He waited for the perfect moment to strike.
That afternoon, as the eatery buzzed with customers, Thomas seized his chance.
âWait right there, Miss Giselle!â he called out loudly as she headed for the exit. âWhatâs in your bag today? Have you been stealing food and supplies? Youâre FIRED!â
Gasps echoed across the room. Guests turned to watch, whispering among themselves. The staff gathered behind Thomas, equally stunned.
Giselleâs hands trembled as she clutched her bag. âItâs just my lunch box and a spare set of clothes,â she said nervously.
Thomas ignored her plea and snatched the bag from her. It was heavier than he expected.
He placed it on a table and unzipped it, pulling out a tiny blanket.
âWhat in the worldâŚ?â he gasped as he uncovered a newborn baby girl.
A soft cry broke the silence. âMawww⌠MawwwâŚâ The little girl wriggled inside the bag, staring up at Thomas with big brown eyes.
The Truth Revealed
Tears welled up in Giselleâs eyes as she stepped forward. âMy husband passed away when I was pregnant,â she admitted. âAfter my baby was born, I couldnât find work, and I had no one to care for her. I didnât want to leave her alone at home, so I carried her in my bag and kept her close while I worked. I only wanted to protect my child. I swear, I never stole anything.â
A hush fell over the eatery. Thomas stood frozen, staring at the infant. The baby reminded him of the child he had lost years ago.
For the first time in a long time, tears streamed down his face. Overcome with emotion, he folded his hands in apology.
He gently handed the bag back to Giselle. âTake a month off,â he said softly. âIâm giving you paid leave to spend time with your baby.â
Giselleâs lips quivered into a smile. She cradled her daughter and walked out of the eatery, feeling relief wash over her.
A New Beginning
Thomas was a changed man. When Giselle returned to work, he doubled her salary, ensuring she could afford a nanny to care for her child while she worked.
For the first time, he had done something truly meaningfulânot out of pride, but out of compassion.
