Father Kills Daughter after Trump Argument
A 23-year-old woman was fatally shot by her father during a visit to his home in Texas following a heated argument about President Donald Trump.
Lucy Harrison, from Cheshire, England, died on January 10th after being shot in the chest at her father Kris Harrison's residence in Prosper, TX. The incident occurred while Kris Harrison was showing his daughter a semi-automatic handgun in his bedroom, authorities said.
According to testimony from Harrison's boyfriend, Sam Littler, who accompanied her on the trip, the father and daughter had engaged in a "big argument" about Trump earlier that day. Kris Harrison supported the president, while his daughter did not. The discussion reportedly focused on accusations of SA against Trump.
Littler stated that Lucy Harrison asked her father, "How would you feel if I was the girl in that situation?" Kris Harrison allegedly responded that it would not upset him too much because he had two other daughters living with him, prompting Lucy Harrison to storm off in anger.
Later, as the couple prepared to leave for the airport, Kris Harrison took his daughter to his bedroom to show her the firearm after they watched a news segment on gun crime. In a statement to the court, Kris Harrison said, "As I lifted the gun to show her I suddenly heard a loud bang. I did not understand what had happened. Lucy immediately fell." Harrison says the shooting was a complete accident.
Littler reported hearing the shot and finding Lucy Harrison on the floor with her father screaming incoherently. Kris Harrison admitted to consuming about 500 milliliters of wine that day due to a relapse in his drinking problem.
Lucy Harrison worked as a fashion buyer for Boohoo and had attended Manchester Metropolitan University, where she was described as a "well-liked and valuable member" of the community.
In a statement released by Cheshire Police shortly after her death, Harrison's mother and boyfriend said, "Lucy was life. She lived it fiercely and fearlessly, not being afraid to feel all that life has to offer."
Kris Harrison expressed remorse in his statement, saying he "fully accepted" the consequences and carries the weight of the loss daily.
